Dialogue With Crown Estate
We will ask The Crown Estate to think again about the use of their land. We will remind Crown Estate that its stated objectives include “Protecting, restoring, and connecting people with nature, across land, cities and sea” and that its values include to “treat people, places and the environment with care”.

Oppose Planning Applications
We will oppose any planning application for major development of our Green Belt that is put to Elmbridge Borough Council and/or the new East Surrey Council, and call upon councillors to pledge their opposition.

Lobby the Government
We will lobby the Secretary of State who has just this year arrogated to himself the power to take planning applications for major development of the Green Belt – over 150 houses – away from unenthusiastic local councils and inspectors so he can decide for himself.

We will show Support
We have strong arguments to make at each stage, based on the value of the Green Belt, the lack of sufficient infrastructure, and the impact on Claygate. But the most important thing is to show decision-makers that we have the support of the people of Claygate. This could be the factor that decides whether Claygate as we know it survives.
